A magical teaexplorer moment

We arrived into the magical garden café at Boath House just as lunch service was ending.   The rain clouds were gathering as we asked the very welcoming staff team if we might still be able to get a cup of tea even through service was over and they kindly obliged us.   Thus began a magical tearoom explorer moment.   We were sat out on the covered porch overlooking the empty tables  as the rain started falling with ever greater intensity around the garden.   We sat and listened to the raindrops tinkling and jangling their way down the chains that act as downpipes and wondered if we’d accidentally got into heaven earlier than expected.

The leaf Earl Grey tea was served in a white china teapots and we each got our own tea strainer which was very pleasing.   As we sat and chatted we looked over the menu drawn from local produce.   I ‘window shopped’ my imaginary lunch starting with Jerusalem artichoke ricotta and wild leak,  then cod, new potatoes tartar beurre blanc with winter greens and then torn between the rhubarb and custard choux bun and an Affogato which I had never heard of before coming to the Moray coast.  It  For those of you still to be enlightened it is a scoop of Italian gelato  “drowned” with a shot of hot espresso.     It sounded absolutely delicious.

So Boath House Garden Café is more of a wonderful restaurant than a tearoom – however we are very grateful that it was recommended to us as it gave us the opportunity to sit in a very special place for a very special hour.
